The small Last Waltz series were explorations of the artist's visual style where he begins to exert more control over the influences that have helped guide him to this point. McCullough was influenced by his observations of how 21st century relationships seek to be more progressive; yet stunt the growth of love by keeping a foot in the door of the past.
