About The Artwork

"Those, who know, aren't curious" Curiosity is one of the signs of an open and bright mind. It's wonderful to ask questions and doubt answers, to reach for the new knowledge - to invent it, and to implement. When a person (or a community) thinks that they have gotten the gist of some subject perfectly, without a shadow of uncertainty, most likely it means that actually they are far from getting to it's core. Lemons are a frequent theme in my work, and each time the fruits are viewed from a new angle. These lemons were painted purely from imagination, that's why they may seem a little too smooth and not quite sour enough. In my paintings lemons tend to symbolize the capacity to feel deeply, beyond the skin, the cheerful yellow color, the pleasant smell, and the distinct taste (which has amazing healing properties). This fruit can evoke many different emotions at once, and there are various stories behind the sun-bathed lemon trees, lemon branches, and lemon slices as well.

Born and residing in Riga, Latvia. I've been interested in art since childhood, immersing myself in drawing and the history of art. I work mainly with oil and acrylic paint, sometimes watercolor, but not exclusively, as I enjoy trying out new techniques and experimenting with mediums. Vast part of my paintings feature nature and its' different sides, shapes, contrasts, in a somehow impressionistic way, displaying bright and almost overly saturated colors, on the edge of dream and reality.
