Letting the Light In Print

This paintings is part of my ‘Fragments of Life’ Series. Each each these pieces being a visual snapshot of the evolution of my inner life. I begin with a blank sheet of roughly textured watercolour paper, a palette knife, some heavy body acrylic paint, and the compelling need to create. I am inspired by the natural world and my inner spiritual life.  In a process lasting from a week to  months, and involving adding, taking away, working, and re-working layers of paint and mixed media, I start understanding what the painting has to teach me and how its creation process can support my healing journey.  My creative process involves the blending of colours, the scratching away of paint, the  gentle embedding of collage, sand, and polymer mediums, to the final embellishments and excitement of adding gestural markings in pencil, conte, pastels, stamping or even spray paint.  I transform inner questions and the challenges of daily living; feelings of beauty and pain, freedom and frustration, growth and stagnation - all encompassed in this journey of life;  into these paintings, the fragments of my life.
