About The Artwork

He always make plans before he start each one of his paintings but this one changed his direction right after he started to paint the back ground. Back ground is always the most important part of his paintings. After all he realized he can't paint the way he planed. He could say this is an accidental result which happens very few times. It's a challenge for him to change his plans like in this case but he kind of like it because it's fun to create something new which he has never done it before. Always learning one after another, like our life. Painted on silk. 26" x 48" with metal frame, acid-free mat board and uv plexiglass on top of the painting.

He is known for his unique approach to wave imagery and use of metal leaf within each of his original, one of a kind, paintings on silk. The medium is a water based pigment derived from suihigofun (mineral) which the artist grinds to a finer consistency and then mixes with a very delicate balance of nikawa (melted pine sap). The nikawa is what gives the pigment its deep rich color and also enables it to adhere to the silk. His themes and inspirations always begin with the traditional, the end result is something refreshingly new and innovative. Perhaps it can be said that his work is a modern interpretation of tradition by one who understands deeply both the discipline of his Eastern culture and the freedom of Western expression. In his work, he strives to achieve integration of the two cultures. He currently resides on Whidbey Island in Washington. For more artworks please visit my website: www.nishimuraart.com
