ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The relentless ocean sculpts the coastline of Australia. It is often windy and menacing. The site of many ship wrecks in the past, it makes you wonder what it would have been like to suddenly face the fury of the sea so long ago. Beautiful with its blues and green juxtaposed with the rugged splendour of the ochre cliffs, beauty and tragedy so closely linked. I enjoy working with a palette knife, using strong strokes, this subject just came off my knife with ease [a will of its own] I wanted to capture the splendour of the area without making it pretty or innocent of its brutal past.
