To make these lines, I use tight ropes on the canvas. I then apply ink to each of the strands and pop them onto the canvas, which leaves an impression on the canvas. I repeat the process over and over and then turn the screen at a right angle and do the exact same process over and over again. Thus, the structure of the pattern consists of vertical and horizontal lines. The physical aspect and the material aspect are important in my work. For me, the repetition of lines is like the ticking of a clock or the beating of a rhythm. (When I sprinkle drops of color, I feel that they are like particles of light). Repetition also creates the vibration effect. When looking closely, sometimes you can get dizzy, or feel some distance and depth. For me, the beauty of repetition shows me all these images.

Paulo Gnecco emerges as a multifaceted artist whose work transcends traditional boundaries, seamlessly weaving together elements of scientific inquiry, artistic expression, and social reflection. With a background in biology serving as the bedrock of his creative journey, Gnecco's exploration of nature, abstraction, and societal themes is imbued with a profound sense of depth and complexity. Born in 1984 in Sao Paulo amidst the vibrant tapestry of Brazilian culture, Paulo Gnecco was captivated by the rich diversity of his surroundings from an early age. His academic pursuits led him to delve into the intricacies of biology, where he developed a keen eye for observation and an insatiable curiosity about the natural world. Through his studies, Gnecco began to recognize the interconnectedness of all living things, laying the foundation for his later artistic endeavors. It was during his studies in biomedicine that Gnecco's passion for art began to blossom, drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artistic influences, including Frank Stella, Mark Rothko, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, Jackson Pollock, Sean Scully, Anselm Kiefer, Bridget Riley, and Ding Yi. Inspired by their bold experimentation and innovative techniques, Gnecco embarked on a journey to translate his observations of nature into abstract expressions of form and color. Armed with his scientific background, Gnecco embarked on a quest to transform his observations of the natural world into vibrant works of art. Drawing upon concepts from modern science and the principles of evolutionary theory, Gnecco sought to capture the essence of life's evolutionary journey on canvas. His artistic language, characterized by the creation of threads superimposed on images and vibrant colors in the background, serves as a visual metaphor for the interconnectedness of all living things. In addition to his exploration of nature and abstraction, Paulo Gnecco delves into the complex tapestry of Brazilian culture, grappling with themes of Brazilianness, social justice, and political commentary in his work. Drawing inspiration from Brazilian popular arts and folklore, Gnecco's art serves as a reflection on the societal issues facing his homeland. Through his bold use of color and imagery, Gnecco invites viewers to confront the realities of contemporary Brazil, sparking dialogue and introspection.
