About The Artwork
Some people tend to gravitate to the folds of the draped fabric in this painting while others are more attracted to the many variations in the flesh tones. Each of the colors you see in the flesh were actually there on the model's body. The blue color of the background makes the flesh tones appear particularly vibrant in this painting. I wanted the fabric to be draped at the top as if it were hanging from the corners of the painting itself, setting the figure back into a space so that you could see her right in front of you, as if looking through an opening in the wall.
