About The Artwork

I worked with a split complimentary color scheme, sticking to the main pieces of red, blue-green, and yellow-green. This I felt highlighted the subject the best and still felt fun and fresh. The only color I had known I wanted included in this piece before I began was red, given the sucker and tongue's significance. I went through a color study process of over 100 color combination and arrangements. I wanted this pieces to be special somehow, to really illustrate the tongue and sucker respectively. I used an acrylic medium to build hooked barbs on the tongue and manipulated the paint on the sucker to create lines just like the candy develops when you suck on it. The tongue and nose have a sheen to them in order to further the tactile experience. *note* prints will not have these textural additions, only the original

Message me for details. I use bright colors because I study life and life, when you really think about it, is not subtle. I enjoy studying the intricacies of the way light plays on a subject, where it bounces directly, where it reflects, and work to freely express those discoveries. I believe that art is an expression of one's soul. The idea that something I created called to another person is incredible. Thinking about having pieces of my work, my life, my very essence, out and about around the world, makes me giddy. My favorite quote of all time is Leonardo da Vinci's "Learn how to SEE. Realize that everything is connected to everything else." It's this connection that I'm forever contemplating and exploring.
