This piece is embroidered and beaded (embroidery with beads) entirely by hand with thread and seed beads (small beads). Beading and embroidery are very meticulous work requiring several hours of work for small surfaces. My guideline is the work of texture to obtain a relief both on volumes and flats as well as on brightness and hues. This art piece has been created on a vintage handkerchief and is not stretched. It is intended to be shown as it is, and hung directly on to the wall. This piece is part of a series called "Les mouchoirs" “Les mouchoirs” is a project to upgrade old embroidered textiles. These pieces were given to me, antiquing or saved from the trash. Through this project, I wish to highlight a know-how trivialized from our elders and abandoned at the present time. The closets of our grandparents are full of old handkerchiefs, doilies, embroidered tablecloths with their initials or motifs, however, damaged by time. It is a heritage, filled with memories and stories that I wish to revive. The added pearls are embroidered by hand. These new elements proliferate in the way of a micro-organism and merge with the basic creation allowing to give a new look and a second life on this work of textile memory. In today’s society, the link to nature has disappeared to make way for a virtual and capitalist world. A world suffocating and exploding from within. Looking at this environment, I decided to follow another movement. It is through these factors that I have realized that I am in full mental evolution, where I am trying to reconnect with my inner self – my child self. Challenge a whole logic of thought, which we were taught to reconnect with my true identity. It’s a long job because it involves reconstructing an Ariane thread, a chain of thoughts. Thread after thread, from the outside to the inside, in order to find myself truly and return to the depths of myself. Sensitivity and empathy define my personality very clearly. I have always felt in my heart an indescribable lack, a deficiency in the world in which we live. This insufficiency pushes me in the exploration of new textures to enrich the environment and a need to feel on different planes; with the primary objective, to bring all our senses to awaken. Create total immersion in a new world. A world where the barrier of childhood no longer exists. An enchanting world where logic would be superfluous and references to the game, through the awakening of the senses, would be in overabundance. Attracted and intrigued by the absurd, weirdand the strange, all these frames/elements allow me to explore subjects beyond our logical thought form. The references to nature are also very present, with organic matter as an anchor; as if the earth wished to send me a message, beyond my unconscious, that I would always need it. Beyond the previous inspirations, my initial training in Styling-Modellistallowed me to awaken to the textile, to which I now have admiration and passion. This ancestral material allows a multitude of possibilities through its techniques and has a meditative effect through its repetitive gestures requiring patience. It is therefore with the common thread: the fibre that defines my work. Work on the exploration of aesthetics through colours, light, materials and the combination of different techniques to nourish this desire to return to life.
