About The Artwork
Mary's love for Earth Mary Jane Miller has been working on a new collection of contemporary icons called On Holy Ground. The work focuses on care for our planet Earth. “I began working on the collection at Vaughan Park Retreat Center, Auckland NZ while selected for a resident scholarship in September and October of 2019". Christ consciousness is energy outside time and space. For us to see it as such, requires a growing number of Earth images. Some human beings believe Spirit has a spacial identity felt and understood by humanity on this planet. Others believe that Christ consciousness is energy outside time and space which possibly dictates and validates our place on our planet. Either way, I like the idea that there is an energetic intelligence manifesting the universe.

Mary Jane Miller has been a full-time artist dedicated to iconography for over 30 years in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She paints and teaches the ancient Byzantine-style art of Icon writing as a prayer form. Her understanding of its spiritual symbolic language and her dedicated skill result in an experience that is deeply meditative as well as artistic. She teaches using the traditional medium of egg tempera, hand-tooled pewter, and gold leaf. Her magnificent and unique studio in Mexico is open by appointment.
