ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is an oil painting worked on to a mono print background making the image stable. I liked the idea of the Masai jewellery seller with her bright coloured outfit in the Mara surrounded by the dark dangerous but gentle looking Cape Buffalo - although in reality one would never encounter such close proximity of people with this animal. And yet the beauty of such animals and the girl in her natural environment seem to go naturally together.

I was born in Hertfordshire, UK in 1958, part of my childhood was spent on the East Suffolk coast. Currently I live and work in London and Farnham. As a self taught artist I began my career in interior design in order to work in a creative field, but what I really wanted to do was make art! Eventually I was able to achieve my goal by working to commission, painting murals to start with for the interior design trade, this was back in the '80's, then I began to paint portraits. My first one man show was in the early 90's after I had successfully painted all the road bridges along the Thames, it was held in Tower Bridge and was quite an event. I love water, sparking or otherwise, and I love the London bridges. My first exhibition led me into becoming a printmaker at the Artichoke Printworks in Brixton, an open access print studio where I create my mono prints and other etchings, where I have been a member for several decades.
