About The Artwork

Some of the elements that inspire my work are my personal experiences of being an adopted child from India. My work is motivated by the experience of being an Indian that has been raised in the United States. The work also explores the struggles and obstacles that an orphan may face when being adopted, the transition and journey that may involve. The work is in support of adoption, and having the opportunity to provide a more stable life for a child with a broken bond from their birth parents. I hope through viewing my work viewers will feel the beauty in the color choices, and the compassion in the content of the work. The compassion to feel that every child deserves a chance to have a comfortable life. The paintings are supposed to move people emotionally, feel inspired to make a difference in a child’s life. I choose the medium, which is tissue paper layered with acrylic paint because the materials speak to the content of the work. The subject matter is displayed in silhouette forms engaging the viewer to look past the figures into the paths Indian designed background. The tissue paper mirrors the many layers of an individual’s experiences.
