ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Oil paints on stretched cotton canvas, worked with brushes, palette knives and fingers. Captures the awe-inspiring and mysterious nature of the Giant’s Causeway - the most famous landmark on the Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland. The Giant’s Causeway is a UNESCO World Heritage site, made up of over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. Some say it formed by ancient volcanic eruptions; others by the Irish giant Finn Macool, trying to reach his Scottish counterpart Benadonner. The artist’s favourite studio overlooks the wild Irish Sea where it meets the Atlantic, and walks along this blessed and beloved coastline often take in the Causeway itself.
