About The Artwork

My art is a mix of pop surrealism and eastern philosophy! It’s a fantasy world made of bright colors and character art. The imagery is inspired by street art, comics, psychedelic rock and trance music. I’ve been exhibiting since the mid 90’s and my work has been auctioned by Christie’s several times. I work within a concept I created, called MokshaShots.
In eastern philosophy, 'Moksha' means salvation. We probably won’t get to full fledged Moksha in this life, but we can get a shot of it. Everyone can make their own MokshaShot out of anything they find fulfilling: art, a vacation, a Ferrari or a tequila shot! I use humour and satire to make social comments or cultural critiques. The traditional Mandala painting was used as a meditation aid. Today, we create gods out of products, people and experiences as objects of contemplation. To satirize this penchant for veneration, I created deities called MokshaPets. Each has Mandalas of their own. This work is based on the deity Irreverence (MokshaBrat). He is politically incorrect. This means he is also always truthful, funny, not-so-saintly and thus a lot of fun! His mantra is “This is not the life I’d ordered” Enjoy!
