Mountains above El Durazno Print

This painting took me a long time, it will surprise no one. It represents a small part of a mountain that I can see from the window of the workshop, located above the village of El Durazno. At the end of the afternoon, the light highlights particular reliefs, which give me the desired composition. This work is in line with my current concerns: playing with composition to offer a work with two readings, figurative and semi-abstract. I would like only composition and color to matter. Regarding this one, it is just the representation of a moment, rather short, of the exposure of these mountains to the light of the sun, the color of these rocks changing all the time, between their darkness at dawn, the bluish a little purplish in the middle of the day, and ocher and sepia in the late afternoon. The preparatory drawing consisted of a freehand outline drawing (with measurements of a few attachment points), the details were drawn as the painted area advanced. The base color is a preparation of burnt umber, orange and ocher, then declined in more or less light tones. It could have been a monochrome, if the darker areas had not been painted in Prussian blue. The frame is of my production, the canvas is a cotton canvas (with a little synthetic) treated with 4 layers of delicately sanded gesso.
