ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Mrs. Muncie's Garden", 18"W x 24"H x 1.25"D, oil on canvas. Where the canvas is stretched around the broad edge of the frame it is painted as an extension of the scene suggesting that an additional picture frame is not a necessity. The painting is shipped in a box. "When I was a little girl our neighbor, Mrs. Muncie, had a huge, magnificent garden. Upon entering it you walked in a circle with ever descending pathways and could enjoy many more sections of flowers than if it were flat. We loved to descend into that garden with her and admire every flower. We would explain why we liked one better than another. She always found our comments interesting and allowed us to pick a little bouquet to take home. What fond memories I have of Mrs. Muncie!"

I have been painting since I was a child, first attending art classes on Saturday mornings; then studying Drawing and Painting at the University of Michgan followed by Columbia University. From there my paintings have been in Galleries in New York, St. Louis, Chicago, Boston and more. I am happiest when I am painting and totally focused on my work. I love the Sea, thus my paintings of it; I love trees and flowers thus my landscapes; I have currently begun making abstracts which I find fascinating to create. I love radiant colors, and painting textures which I think enhance what I am painting. I stopped painting for ten years after my beloved eleven year old son, Max, died of a Bone Marrow Transplant for Leukemia, and founded , an English Laungage Arts Curriculum for Middle School Children which is now a global organization. I began painting again when the owner of the Nakazawa Gallery in Hiroshima said to me, "You must paint again and I will have another exhibit for you." I am so grateful to her for that, as now I run my organization as well as paint, both of which I love doing.
