“My Controversial April”, 2021 By Naniko Baramidze (Georgian, born in 1976 ) Acrylic on canvas H80 x W80 cm Spring 2021 is full of unexpected moves and interesting professional developments, thus the personal adjustments to uncertain circumstances. These days this is especially true for many others as well. The painting describes all the above with the colors and symbolism: Contrasting colors and divided faces express variety of changes that Spring 2021 brought to us all. Yet, it still came with usual cheerful colors. The weather is far beyond anyone’s control and the characters’ expressions on the painting compliment this statement. As implied by the painting, dandelions symbolize the flower/grass which loses its usual shape once picked from the ground. The dandelions… they can disappear into the thin air if you pick them up from the grass. Enjoy the dandelion from the distance, stare into it as much as you want. Flowers behind the dandelions are made from glass and they have no scent of spring. They may shine bright, but they are lifeless. Putting them into the water is as useless as an udder on a bull. So just stop, stare, find your moments and enjoy them the same way you do with dandelions… Enjoy the state of art by watching, but do not bother the soul and peace of the Controversial April 2021.
