Nature's Cadence Print

I worked to express how I feel when I am in nature, in the Spring, in a forest meadow. The sights, sounds, smells, and sensations all merge into a cadence of life. I painted Nature’s Cadence in a series of distinct translucent layers. I worked to have the energy, color, shapes, and textures resonate. Some layers have hard-edged geometric shapes, and others flowed organically. I have added and subtracted paint to hide and reveal different elements. When the layers show through, the colors mix optically, meaning that your eyes work to identify the colors created when two different colors overlap. For example, I used no green in the final layer, yet the blues and yellows blend. I love science in my art! I enjoy tiny details within my oversized canvas. You can see elements in contrasting colors that add interest. I incorporated the edges of the canvas into the art, expanding the work by giving a different perspective from each side. I am inspired by all of the lovely ladies of 9th Street. Their passion and energy to create using the bliss they found when creating is also my jam.
