What/who inspired the work? From time to time I like to experiment with a new geometric design or pattern. That is how this one came to be. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? The exactness of the design contrasts with the way the colors and texture have been applied. There is a controlled narrative by staying within the lines. It is tidy and organized and simple. Marie Kondo would keep this piece and throw out the rest. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Working with acrylic paints on paper is my favorite way to work. I also like mid-century modern style which includes geometry and Bauhaus and Mondrian and all of that. I live in a mid-century house and we have kept it close to its original style. Why the title? To me, I see a waterway that zig zags around mountains, symbolic of life leading us one direction, and then back and forth through trial and error, through guidance that is not always gentle. We are to stay the middle course, and some of us stay too close the the edges, thus we are forced into abrupt turns. Welcome to my Saatchi online gallery! I have done many styles of art for several decades, including Asian brush stroke ink painting, and midcentury abstract expressionism. I'm constantly exploring new subjects, materials, and methods. My yoga and meditation practices influence my art style, through which I hope to impart tranquility, peace, and playfulness. My preferred mediums are acrylic, ink, graphite, and watercolor on paper. I love to work on flat, white paper, which gives paintings an effect one cannot achieve on canvas — plus, it affords the opportunity to add a stunning frame. The music I listen to when I create art ranges from Native American drumming to Tibetan and Gregorian chants, Vivaldi, and singers like Leonard Cohen and Loreena McKennitt. Approximately two hundred of my paintings have been sold to people across the U.S., Britain, and Canada. My work has been exhibited in galleries in Colorado and Nebraska. I joined Saatchi in 2023. Thank you for stopping by. .........................................................
