My Nike 2.0 is a modern goddess of victory that is in the final stage of creation before her first flight on her wings made of SpaceX''s solar panels. The structure below the mighty goddess is a carrier vehicle that is going to transport Dragon9 rocket with Crew Dragon spacecraft on top to the Launch Complex 39A in Florida. Two daring astronauts: Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley will be the first two pilots flying the spacecraft. All this ... tomorrow [hence the date of publication of the painting]!!! I will be watching this flight with champagne in my hand! The beautiful goddess is of ‘course Nike of Samothrace exhibited in Louvre, just photographed from the stairs below not from the side, like most photographers do. I took the photo on my museum tour to Paris a few years ago and I find this view particularly powerful. The photo of Dragon carrier was taken by NASA photographer Joel Kowsky [contact: jk@kowskyphotography.com ] who kindly gave me permission to use his spectacular photograph.] Photo Credit: (NASA/Joel Kowsky) The painting is a backlit, impressionist portrayal of the goddess. The painting is quite massive, over 2 metress tall...and she seems to really be there. You...as if, feel the wind made by her wings. Well, the painting is actually SpaceX's winged victory, and simultaneaously the winged victory of human kind in our attempt to ...conquer is too big a word, to explore the space :)

Artist statement: My art comments the world of the 21st century. I am interested in modern technologies and their impact on mankind. I love science and follow the latest discoveries. I am watchfully observing the recently resurrected space race. The computer is my faithful friend that I know, understand and respect. My protagonists think by means of algorithms. For me human is an endangered species, and the current Superman is called Elon Musk. I like precision, cleanliness and clarity of the message. I'm not romantic, I'm emphatic. This is not painting from the world of our grandparents, you are looking at art from the world of your grandchildren. And a bit of my biography. I am a Polish artist living and working in Lodz, Poland, member of ZPAP - Polish Association of Professional Artists, painter from the Oscar niminated "Loving Vincent" film - world's first fully painted feature film produced by Breakthru Films and directed by Dorota Kobiela. Main theme is humans vs. technology. Favourite media: oil on canvas, watercolour pencils.
