About The Artwork
The ‘Nopal’, from the Nahuatl or Aztec word ‘nohpalli’ (pads) or Prickly Pear cactus has become a Mexican delicacy of choice. From salads to marmalades, soups and stews, it is available in natural, dried or tinned versions. ‘Nopales Caliente’ is my spicy, sexy illusion of the nopal, as its ‘hot’ prickle may scratch playfully, or fatally! Cuando se juega con el cosquilleo del nopal, lo hace bajo su propio riesgo. (When playing with the prickle of the nopal, you do so at your own risk).
