About The Artwork

Always inspired by sea, nature and the sky. On a trip to Blackpool, my hometown, I was looking out to sea and saw some of the illumination lights reflected in the sea, it reminded me of the Northern lights that we had seen as a family when I was younger. I had great fun trying to create the texture and movement of a choppy sea and the reflection in the sky. I didn't use paintbrushes in this piece at all, instead choosing to paint with my hands to obtain the energetic sea moving into and around itself.

Hello I'm Tania, I live in rural Kent with my husband , grown up children and various animals. Having recently completed a degree in textiles, I have found that more and more I love to paint and draw, sometimes I use these images for fabrics but more often than not I just paint and loose myself in the moment. I like to work in layers, creating texture and interest with both liquid and paste medium, I use oil sticks, ink, powder paint and acrylic paints, I am very fond of metallic paints and foils and use them in a lot of my work. I use my life experiences, and the beautiful natural world around me for my inspiration. I find that I like to work at scale and don't often use a brush, preferring instead to use my fingers and squeegee or sponge. I am experimental and like to try different applications, materials and ways of working. I am always trying to get more texture in my work often resulting to sand, salt and plaster of Paris to achieve this. My work has been exhibited a Rochester Art Gallery, New Designers 2021 online and UCA Rochester graduate showcase. I currently sell my fabric textiles at various craft fairs and shops in Kent
