About The Artwork
Nostalgic Romance is a beautiful abstract painting in pink and purple tones, using cracking clay and acrylic paints on canvas. It belongs to the Spores series, a collection of paintings that use concentric circles as its only subject. Samuel wants the viewer to enjoy the beauty of the colours and textures alone, so he has used overlapping shapes that will not distract from this. The circles are also calming and pleasing to the eye. These elements create a striking composition that celebrate this colour palette in all of its beauty, with Samuel’s signature textured element. Spores was the name given to the first painting in this series, and Nostalgic Romance is the second painting. It was named after its romantic colour palette and the time it was painted, being completed a week before Valentines Day. ‘Nostalgic Romance’ Measures 40cm x 50cm and sits within a white stained oak frame measuring 43.5cm x 53.5cm x 3.5cm with a gap between the canvas and frame to show the painted edges.
