About The Artwork
(Sold). "Oasis" was my way of capturing the charm of the old general stores out in the American West, in Oregon. They keep local folks in the country supplied---with gas, ice, bread, smokes, beer, elk jerky, fishing lures, you name it. There seems to be one at every highway junction, often family owned. Photos of people catching big fish nearby fill the walls behind the cash register. Or photos of buck deer or large bears. This was painted after it had rained all night from a photo taken about 8am, as the sun poked through the mist.

Living in the Pacific Northwest in Portland, Oregon. I like painting places, people and still lifes. Longtime admirer of French, Spanish and California impressionists, and 19th-century American landscape painters. Art found me in recent years and I went to art school after a career in communications.
