VIEW IN MY ROOM
Painterly application of acrylic latex house painting results in visual texture, however showing evidence of the artist's hand. Ready to hang, unframed showing the sides of the canvas and some incidental paint from the the artist working/painting. This is the first painting in a new series introducing an innovative personal breakthrough in which symbolism (partial and unresolved images of faces) reflects the disappearance of "heroes" in current society. Viewers might sense a loss from the manner faces are depicted contrasted with the experience of examining the intricate and seemingly incidental atypical application of paint in a soft pastel environment of color. The medium of flat and soft tones of house paint give a faded but uniform hues, lacking nuances of blending and modeling. However, darker values and overlapping lines of color create visual interest and drama. The curving edges are hard and mechanical, contrasting with an overall pastel appearance.
