About The Artwork

ONE LOVE ONE HEART- Bright Red Waratah (Telopea speciosissima) 75 x 75 x 2.5 cm 19/10/2022 By HSIN LIN Artist Acrylic on Acid-free canvas. Sealed with clear spray varnish. Sides painted Signed at the front and ready to hang. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. Affirmation: I will always be your light. To experience the seasons, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom around my surrounding, during its flowering season. This artwork was inspired by my visit to Karwarra Australian Native Botanic Garden in Mt Dandenong. I was lucky that all the white and red Waratahs were blooming gloriously, and this one specific bloom caught my attention. The Waratah flower is the symbol of undying love. Waratah (Telopea) - a member of the plant family Proteaceae, native to the south-eastern parts of Australia - New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. The inflorescence of Proteaceae is often very large, blooming in brightly, vivid colour, consisting of many small flowers densely packed into a compact head or spike. The bright red Telopea speciosissima is the NSW state emblem. There’s also a saying that the aboriginal people soaked the Waratah in water and drank it as a tonic of strength. Flowers always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine. - WILD BOTANICAL ABSTRACT SERIES BY HSIN LIN- Artwork inspired by nature in Bayswater, Melbourne, Australia, Spring 2022. -HSIN LIN Exhibition - 29 MARCH–2 APRIL 2023 THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW at AT THE ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING & CARLTON GARDENS

HSIN LIN, Award-winning Artist based in Melbourne, Australia. In Hsin Lin’s ongoing, signature contemporary floral series that feature native and common flowers we know, flowers represent life and each different type of flower has a unique symbolic meaning. Lin is inspired by her close observation of the natural world. Through a process of careful looking Lin is able to capture an incredible amount of intricate detail. To create the larger-scale work, Lin normally spends 6-12 months developing the intricate composition. The fine details such as the tiny petals have been developed through ten or more layers of paint. Lin describes that ‘although still-life is considered a traditional genre, each object in the paintings stands for a different meaning and has its own story. Flowers represent us as humans, vases represent the body carrying our soul, protecting us like a shield. The weaving basket stands for connections—the bonds between families, friends and all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole and we are stronger together.’ Lin’s paintings, a series of flowers in full bloom, remind us that we are alive and that life is vibrant, blossoming and full of potential.
