Orca Moms Print

This is the feature piece of my series "Nature's Moms and Babies". The BC west-coast setting is based on my photo of Douglas Channel at Kitimat, and the orca mom and baby are from Michael Charet's Washington State photo. The mom is Nicole Widen from my photo taken at Stewart, BC. Did you notice the subtle orca in the clouds? It is a symbolic representation of the mystical status the orca has on our west coast. The key to the image is the little girl's connection to the orcas. I gave her orca-coloured clothes and an orca design on her hoodie, giving extra meaning to her waving to the orcas. As of May 1, 2020, this painting is not yet dry enough to ship, and it has not yet been varnished.
