About The Artwork
As simply as artist can express this is symbolic of emotion. Graduation day at University. Artist and Liz (not her real name) stood on hill overlooking main offices estate. Liz, an orphan. Brought up in a Barnardo Orphanage. Properly known in UK as: The National Incorporated Association for the Reclamation of Destitute Waif Children. Type of girl who every man wanted. Everyman. Wonder why I had her, body and soul. We watched as families returned from Cathedral where degrees were admitted. We had both elected to be absent. Marquees and a summer buffet arranged on lawn. We watched a sweet young girl get out of a really classy limousine, driven by her father. Dressed in a wide-brimmed straw hat and frock. Hugged mummy and daddy. And the rest. It was as if artist and Liz were fused in consciousness. Reality of our circumstance. Both apprehensive. Both proved correct. Our "education" not necessarily in classroom or library. Orphan. Oil on canvas.

Lowborn, lacking Luxury Beliefs, but not inverted snob. Orphaned, outcast, male, straight, white, capitalist (a tiny fish in a very big pond), quite conservative in fiscal and social matters. In long term and friendly relationship. Purposely irrelevant prankster, yet pragmatic, singular, evolved, authentic, ironic, sardonic, sceptical. I realise some of these classifications could go against one. Definitely not intersected. Comparatively deprived early life, which has had life-long permanent effect. Not least in being grateful, for what I've got. And for any opportunities that I can both recognise and take. These themes within some of my works. Never faked a sarcasm too. Personally loyal to those who have tried or helped me. What else is a man of honour to do? Really enjoy painting, sometimes. In silence, without media lies etc., have noticed sound of my own breathing as I paint. Most expressive, rather than regular. Still learning after all these years. Still learning.
