About The Artwork

I really enjoy visiting Padstow in Cornwall and this is a view inspired by a visit during the summer when we were holidaying. This painting is a view looking from Padstow Harbour across the Camel estuary over to Rock during low tide. I hope that this painting reminds the viewer of the spectacular scenery of this area of natural beauty. The painting captures the windy conditions at the time of visiting using expressive marks and applications of thick paint to convey movement. I always use Wallace Seymour oil paints that are handmade in Yorkshire using the finest pigments bound in cold-pressed linseed oil to provide luminosity and resonance to the finished painting. The painting has been signed on the front and reverse and has been professionally framed, ready to hang.

Andrew Field is a teacher and professional artist who has painted all of his life; his childhood spent painting in his grandmothers backyard. He moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2004 and painted on the beaches of Abu Dhabi until his return to the UK in 2015. His love of the natural world and his deep-rooted passion for rivers and the sea has lead him to painting this subject repeatedly and to develop a strong following of collectors in the United Arab Emirates as well as the UK. Andrew's paintings of Abu Dhabi documented the organic, raw beauty of remote parts of the coastline and he continues to search for isolated areas of the British landscape that are unspoilt. Andrew also has a love for flowers and has recently created a series of floral paintings, taking inspiration from his favourite types of flowers and turning them into still life impressions. Andrew paints with oils and uses eco-friendly diluents and mediums that are plant-based and derive from sustainable sources, which alligns with his ethical approach and interest in preserving and celebrating the natural environment. Andrew has exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists as well the Mall Galleries with The Royal Society of Marine Artists and Royal Institute of Oil Painters at Mall Galleries in London. Andrew lives and works in Stratford Upon Avon, United Kingdom.
