ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The modern man is lustful of the female's body. The female thighs are like the virus, shown by the yellow colour. The virus spreads slowly to the man's face, causing blindness, as seen by his gorged eyes. The highlights in red on the man's head show the virus's effect on his brain. His thoughts have been corrupted by lust and sex. He can no longer see beyond his purpose. He is so much sexualised that he forgets his masculine power. His smile shows that he is still unaware of the effect of the virus. This painting alerts the modern man of the effects of promiscuity and the tool most females use to manipulate men. Once the man is driven by lust, his frame becomes weak, and he can no longer resist manipulation from women.

The modern masculinity and the 21st Century man are the subjects of Mr. Brian Olago’s Paintings and sculptures. Brian seeks to address the challenges the modern man grapples with. He urges men to build their frames and understand the dynamics of relationships, women, success and masculine power. He understands the plight of men in the ever changing feministic world offering therapy and deeper understanding throught the work he creates. In his artworks , the dominant faces are the males’. His work is more inclined to expressionism abstract and do not automatically reveal its meaning. For sculpture, he collects junk metal and retains its feel throughout the all sculpture process. He occassionally uses cement and wood. His paintings are majorly acrylics on canvas. He uses the rich tones acrylics provide to convey the most hidden messages in his work. In some instances , he uses vibrant colors to create an illusion enhancing the painting to speak deeper.
