The title echoes two notion, first ” Philia ” from the ancient greek, is the notion of loving someone for who s/he is rather than loving s.he for what it can brings to us (self confidence, material security etc), and ” Filiation “, reminding us the link in between everything & everyone. This painting is relatively cryptic and not easy at first sight. It asks some observation to reveal its characters, but once you do it, the meaning and interactions show up. Besides the numerous kind demons and animals nagivating all over the canvas through their nested bodies. The main story is around the two main characters, a female entity on the left and male on the right. You can see the outstretched arm of the right entity, into the chest of the left person. It’s like an allegory of an intercourse, but on a different level. At the bottom left of the canvas you notice a sort of opened drooling mouth with its teeth etc, another metaphor of the female sex. This is the feminine energy of Life, thirsty for lives. Like i said the whole painting is a little cryptic and hard to read, to insist on the combined and intertwined side of the life process. Where no characters is more important than the other, the artistic blur of Life.
