Plastic People no.1 Print

I began looking at how climate change is tied to the consumeristic and capitalistic realities of our world. I'm interested in using the harsh materials such as plastic bags to examine it in this piece. I created a portrait of a person living on one of the most threatened, due to rising seas, low lying islands Vanatu. I sculpted the portrait on canvas using plastic bags and mixed media and then tore parts of it away, leaving part impressions of the face, showing the impact of capitalism on climate change and its subsequent affects on people.
