About The Artwork
This 18x24 stretched canvas acrylic painting is inspired by my love of dragons. I had a basic concept of what I wished to achieve with this piece but I experimented with a few techniques to on the scales to show depth, light and shadow. I fell in love with what I was creating and spent longer than I intended on this piece. This mother dragon is laying with her head resting on the fern covered ground, taking a break from whatever mother dragons do. Her young dragonets play fight around her, even using her as a type of shelter. It is my hope that the viewer would feel a little bit of the wonder that can be held when dreaming up fantasy worlds and creatures. One of the things that I love about the fantasy world is that anything can happen. If you can dream it up it can be created.
