About The Artwork

A contemporary art piece that describes my personal conversation I had with an afro female a while ago. In our conversation she said the custom of body piercing has existed for thousands of years in the Middle East, Africa, India, and North America. It is part of many traditional rituals and often marks a critical moment in someone’s life, such as entering adulthood or getting married. Firstly, you may be wondering why the heads are small and the afro hair is quite large, well if you're familiar with my thoughts on relative black intellectual capacity as seen by some people in some other races then you will be aware. But let's get back to my interaction with this lady, In our research and discussion I got to understand that the definition of "what does a nose ring mean on a woman" depends on the region she originates in, belief system, and the tradition in which she grew up. Nowadays, wearing a ring can be a part of a personal style, a current whim, or just a fashion detail. In some cases, it can have strong religious or sociological symbolism in traditional societies. But the question of why she personally had it on was the main reason this was painted, "She was actually uncertain" with the answer , "I don't really know". In the society, people are driven by what fantasizes them and what they think will make them feel among. The same with tattoos and other trends. In summary, they just want to be part of the trend.
