About The Artwork
This salt water marsh connects to the Nantucket sound in the town of Harwichport, Massachusetts. The sailboat is owned by a local resident of over 30 years. While painting in this spot I met several generations of this family. They described how the bird, fish and insect population of this marsh area had dwindled significantly with the growth of tourism and development. Great white sharks, who used to avoid the shallow waters of the sound, have recently been spotted closer to shore.
