In this particular work I was inspired and amazed at the depth of vision as the painting progressed, recreating an emotional rush comparative to the moment an explorer actually sees that hidden city for the first time. In honor of all that is still undiscovered, I created RELIC. This painting is part of a winter series of geometric inspired works infused with the hallmarks of Abstract Expressionism as well as Action Painting (as each style is interpreted via mark making and vivid color field abstraction). Movement remains central to the visual language of this painting as the composition commingles with a Caligulian spree of color and form. This painting is on Arches 555lb rough watercolor paper (the best in the world!)! It is archival (acid free, mold resistant, and more) , ultra firm and seriously tough and has a beautiful surface for acrylic...better than canvas or panel for its luster. Artwork ships unframed, flat. It can be framed or simply mounted on an archival backing board for display.

Statement: PORTRAITS AND PLANTS: My work offers less about the detailed physicality of nature and instead captures the purest emotions bestowed upon the human condition by exposure to nature. The idea of life is given by stroke, passion by line, belief via color, and all displayed as offerings to our truest self. Bio: To Michigan artist Jon Parlangeli there is no other path but to constantly ask and then answer questions via different modalities within his medium. This leads to new explorative bodies of work offering differing styles, genres, or techniques that satiate his curiosity for the space between real and the abstract. Parlangeli uses both nature and figure as his muse often jostling between them to solve internal conundrums exposed during studio sessions. Standing over such processes is his artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind, Parlangeli uses color as his weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime. Parlangeli is a seasoned painter who has placed works within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His works have been shown in the US and internationally.
