"Roadside Shrine in Ventanas" (Animita en Ventanas) Print

There are two themes that deeply fascinate me, and it is perhaps evident in my paintings, especially in this one. Firstly, I am drawn to seemingly insignificant subjects that lack apparent significance. Yet, they captivate me because they are always present. I strive to convey a sense of dignity to these subjects in my paintings, without embellishing them or making excuses for their simplicity. Instead, I aim to simply showcase them, translating their essence onto the canvas. I view them as portraits, removing them from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life. Secondly, I am fascinated by the transformation of graphics into paintings. This is a delicate balance to achieve, as it seldom works in paintings unless there is a harmonious coexistence between the graphic and the pictorial elements.
