This painting was inspired by the works of Picasso on Cubism. Picasso painted of his home soil Spain, of the matadors, the fighting bull, the jesters and clowns and valiant heroes. I chose my roots which is India and my reminiscence. On a philosophical note - we are a creation of an infinite soul, a nothingness that dances in its own expression of all there is. A celestial wisdom that transcends time and space, an incomprehensible origin of everything perceivable. Yet in this small journey- You made me of a fabric to a land I am rooted with. A land that beckons and calls me every time I go afar. A land that lives in my heart to teach love and humility for all. Love not one but all beings like your own. I made this painting in acrylic red, green and yellow. The figure comes closer to the viewer with a distant background of an old city with use of these earthly tones. I hope that the art collector and viewers alike will resonate with it, their love for their native land and attached memories with it.

"It does not matter what you see, it matters how you see it." -Shourabh Mukherji aka TheModernCubist Shourabh Mukherji is a New Jersey based Contemporary Cubist painter and Board Member at the Center for Contemporary Arts. A self-taught artist whose works are inspired by masters such as Pablo Picasso, FN Souza and MF Hussain. The theme of the artist's work is to evoke vivid, raw and unadulterated emotions. It would be prudent to say that the artist speaks a language of eroticism, a much tantric vibe and one that is primal. Yes, there are no filters for "social adjustments" in the artist's manifestations. The deep emotions of desire and pleasures transcend the casual norms into a more spiritual transcendence through his art. The man and woman become equal participants in the amorous relationship. As Picasso would say- "All you can imagine is real", so are these art forms thus molding themselves and evolving higher realms of passion. The highlights in the artist's creations are distinct line work in black and use of bold colors- with minimal or no mixing. The style is a culmination of Geometric and Figurative Abstraction. The Artist has coined the term "Sculptural Cubism". A derivative of neo-Cubism style in red. Most of Shourabh's art is sold to private collectors in US and abroad. Shourabh has exhibit his work in solo and group exhibits in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. His paintings have appeared in Art Magazines in NYC and LA.
