About The Artwork
I visited the city three times and used the souvenirs he bought on those occasions as motifs for this painting. I went all the way to Murano Island, famous for its glassworks, to buy a single flower vase made of Venetian glass. The lace handkerchief underneath it is said to be a customary item for brides to bring to their bride-to-be. I bought this handkerchief at a store facing St. Mark's Square. These two items would play a supporting role, complementing the neat, yellow roses. I am proud that I was able to express in this painting the tranquil splendor that he feels whenever he visits Venice.
