'Will and Deed; Speed of Light', Oil on Canvas Will and Deed; Speed of Light depicts the artist's quest to understand nature and its workings, in particular why the 'will' cannot simultaneously become 'deed'. The artist is interested in the factor called 'time' and how it acts as both the distance and barrier between willing something and that 'will' transforming into 'deed'. The speed at which the distance can be traversed will depend on the amount of light energy with which we fill the self. In this way, the widely acclaimed theory that time is constant titters on the edge of collapse, and a new theory of time based on individual experience begins to emerge.

Steve Usang engages colour to explore the profundities the world offers him. This is the focus of his art: trying to understand nature and its workings; people and their living through the materiality of colour and the abstractness of lines. He enjoys penning down his thoughts in a poetic manner and delights in the physical science. Of West African origin, he now resides in Sydney, Australia.
