STRANGERS IN PARADISE Print

The Strangers in Paradise was exhibited at the Cayman National Gallery as the part of the collection of the Biennial show 2019. This painting describes a search in someone, who has just awaken for the need to relate to a distant culture. The tropical surrounding highly inspired by the natural landscape of Grand Cayman. Besides the painting suggests strong connection between human and nature, it also talks about the acceptance and understanding of the cultural differences in one another in a symbolic way . On one side of the mirror we see the reflection of the male, while the female is searching her own face in its other side. The lush vegetation and the nakedness represents some kind of a genuine connection. While the female's body language is protective, the male mimicking Rodin's 'Thinker' sculpture.
