About The Artwork

“Sailing” was commissioned by a yachtsman who sails all around the Mediterranean and loves the sea. This canvas captures his passion for the big blue, the wind in the sails and the euphoria of racing. Sailing offers a unique perspective on life: it’s a life of colours that are more intense, of air that is fresher and of a sun that is brighter, all combined with freedom to explore wide, open spaces. The painting is signed on the front, and signed, titled and dated on the back. It measures 31 x 79 x 1.5 inches and the edges of the canvas are painted. A signed certificate of authenticity is included with the artwork. I create my artwork using 380gsm acid-free 100% cotton canvas pre-stretched and primed with staple free edges, specifically designed for acrylics. I use professional quality, purely pigmented Golden Heavy Body acrylics with excellent fade resistance and finish artwork with Golden Archival Varnish for dirt, dust and moisture resistance.

I was born in 1966 and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, before moving to Florence, Italy in 1977, where I lived until 1992. I currently live on the South Coast of the UK. My first memory as an ‘artist’ came when I was 9 and Sr Assumpta, Headmistress at Holy Cross Sisters’ Junior School in Bellville praised me in front of the whole school assembly for the mural that I had made which was displayed above the entrance to the school hall.
