About The Artwork
This is a recent little painting in my Matisse and Hockney inspired chair series. It measures 12x9 inches and is painted on a cradled wood board, ready to frame or hang as is. The painting features a cane / rattan / wicker rocking chair on a deep blue carpet, a retro pink cabinet filled with dishes and jars stands against the wall, with pots of indoor plants arrayed on top of it creating a happy little haphazard jungle. A large leafed plant in lovely cool mint tones spills out of its pot on a little brown stool next to the cabinet and a brightly colored cushion sits atop the rocking chair. The peach wall and the blue carpet are both painted in a loose, painterly style with variegated colors and visible brush strokes, the whole piece has a loosely painted feel that lends it a casual, kind of joyful energy, it is a happy wee space.
