Salomé dances for Herod Print

Salomé, the daughter of Herodias, dances for Hérod and his guests. 12 inches or 30cm in diameter. My painting is inspired by the Biblical story of the Prophet John the Baptist. He was arrested by King Herod at the behest of his wife for criticizing the relationship of Herodias and Herod. The daughter of Herodias, danced at a feast Herod had with visiting dignitaries. He promised her anything her heart desired. She asked for the head of the Baptist, after prodding from her mother. So fell, the greatest prophet - to the whims of a wicked family. My painting is a reminder that we must not cross the line in trying to preserve our 'honour and name' at the expense of the life of an innocent person. Even if you did swear and promise, do not make the mistake of Pontius Pilate and King Darius. It is painted on a round board which should be mounted on a special stand meant to display flat round miniature artworks. My painting will be delivered flat in a sturdy box.
