Another image inspired by the imprint of the lake Siskiyou near my house in the mountains near shasta, the place is the peninsula looking towards mount eddy, the definition of the title chosen from the ambient sound title and mood thus defined: saudade-an emotional state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for something or someone that one loves despite it not necessarily being real or they reciprocate it back. It often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing may never be had again or attained in one's lifetime. It is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places, or events (often illusive) that once are thought to have somehow brought excitement, pleasure, or well-being, but now trigger the painful sense of separation from the perceived joyous sensations

Ron Cooper’s paintings plunge us into a world of reflections and mirror images of memory and fantasy using richly layered oils to achieve a deep painted surface of literal and metaphorical figurative landscapes. Ron’s process involves an image library of reference photos, drawings and internal visions, referring at once to influences both historical and contemporary. Ron was awarded the prestigious Nancy Jo Abeles scholarship at SUNY Purchase where he earned his BFA. He also studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in NYC, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and was awarded 2 consecutive scholarships to attend the New York Summer School of The Arts at Fredonia, NY. Ron has been invited to attend several artists in residence programs and his work can be found in private collections both in the US and internationally. Ron actively pursues a parallel career as a Visual Artist, Designer and Stonemason. Born in Los Angeles in 1966, He spent much of his early career in New Mexico and currently works out of Mount Shasta, California. Please inquire about shipping larger stretched canvas rolled in a tube as an alternative shipping option, this may be preferable for international and domestic.
