About The Artwork

"Searching for the Blue Moon" is part of my moon series of paintings. The idea is that we see and think about the moon in many different ways such as, the scientific body that circles the earth, a light in the dark night that helps us navigate our way, a calendar that helped our ancestors determine planting seasons, etc.. This painting came about as I listened to Nancy Griffith sing "Once in a Very Blue Moon". I thought about how we use that phrase to describe a rare occurrence and the image took shape.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My mixed media and collage paintings feature an abstracted representation of our physical world. I use today’s tool of satellite imagery via Google Earth to help me take you to a landscape that our eyes perceive, our minds infuse with meaning and imagination, and that our ancestors have modified and gifted to us. These explorations begin on gallery-wrapped canvas, using countless layers of acrylic color, built up by mixing and glazing, resulting in a luminous quality that can be found throughout my entire body of work. To further help me visually describe these landscape scenarios I make use of many altered found objects, cut paper, threads, metals, textured paper, acrylic mediums and so forth; building the surface with textural elements that are sometimes significant as a compositional tool and at other times as a descriptor of something specific in its own unique properties.
