ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The painting started as an attempt at a rendition of the "Northern Lights"....Once I decided that I had there were too many mistakes to complete the concept, I simply blended all the colors in order to establish the background colors then began drawing in shapes. Actually pleased with the outcome as it offers something different that I have been painting.

I am an artist living in Midwest USA with a passion for the abstract. I create art to stimulate and excite a sense of imagination and wonder for the viewer. My philosophy is simple: Create aesthetically pleasing work, offer it at a reasonable price and enjoy the knowledge that you will bring smiles to others as they look at your finished product. Whether creating a piece of art, or purchasing, the "experience" of art should illicit smiles, joy, laughter and anticipation. My motivation comes from the basic emotions that all people feel; happiness, sadness, anger, hurt, love or loss. Being somewhat of an introvert, my work is an avenue of expression. Influence comes from everything around me: the way trees bend to the wind, waves crash against a shoreline, societal reaction to world events. All of these circumstances influence the mood which, in turn, influences the choices in my work. From the choice of colors and the materials used to the strength of the brush stroke, there is feeling in the art I create. There is never a "right" or "wrong" interpretation of a painting or other work of art. The emotions realized will be as varied as the cultures and people of the world in which we live.
