About The Artwork

ZACK G. GOULET ARTIST STATEMENT: I am inspired by growing, living, fractal systems and the spirituality of abstraction brought about by repetitive processes. Comparing digital imagery to hand-made objects, I want the aesthetics of the human hand to override the machine. Shapes, color, and line are primal building blocks for abstraction, referencing the quantum geometry that make up our layered space-time fabric of reality. Other themes explored in my work are the science of spirituality and the occult. I use intuition to solve compositional dilemmas. I like figure/ground ambiguities. I use meticulous painting processes to fuse opposing patterns and shapes. Richly embellished imagery will result, which I then seek to reveal the essence of, by selectively covering. The questions I want the viewer to ask are: Who, how, or why was it made?
