Another plein air piece from a morning when the smoke from the wildfires in the West made the light especially orange and weird. It is really beautiful when it looks like this, but also unnerving when you can smell and taste the air and know that somewhere the fires are raging. You hope that all will be well soon. I painted this at the Horsethief Canyon trailhead and have included stones I found that day while on location.
