ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was partly inspired by this great painting that Picasso did of a cat eating a mouse. I loved the way that Picasso didn't want to make all his painting just pretty, because we don't live in a world that's just pretty. Good art reflects life and this painting reflects my reality at the time. The themes of contradiction, chaos and diversity are central to this painting. There's this simple naivety on the surface and along with colorful and painterly brushstrokes imply a youthful happiness. However, underneath there lurks a darker more serious feeling. Much like this diverse a complicated world that we live in.
